Questions of loyalty

Are you really a communist deep down inside?

Do you worry when you read Frank Calzon saying that those who want to end travel restrictions are “inclined to give tyranny the benefit of the doubt” and are “willing to make concessions to Havana?”

And when Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen writes that legislation to permit unrestricted travel, or just to open up educational travel to Cuba, are “pro-Castro amendments,” do you think she could be right?

Well, you can relax.

Just read and take to heart this generous closing line of a Diario las Americas editorial:

“Incidentally, it is fair to say that there are individuals who are not communists, even very worthy persons, who oppose the embargo.”

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Iraqi government is achieving only spotty military and political progress, the Bush administration conceded Thursday in an assessment that war critics quickly seized on as confirmation of their dire warnings. Within hours, the House voted to withdraw U.S. troops by spring.
The House measure passed 223-201 in the Democratic-controlled chamber despite a veto threat from President Bush, who has ruled out any change in war policy before September.
