Phil,
ReplyDeleteman, great editorial in the Miami Herald. You nailed it, from any objective point of view.
One line i especially thought was spot on:
"The irony is that a president tagged as a big-government liberal is cutting regulations, giving Americans more freedom to engage with Cubans as we see fit."
How can folks like Rubio respond to such an apparent truth? they can't...
As someone who visits family regularly in Cuba, believe me, Obama has been a blessing of 'freedom' for me and my family in Cuba in a multitude of ways.
One of the most cruel, in terms of personal intimacy/rights, US government interventions of recent times was bush's 3 year limit family visit limit....
Can one imagine the 'free world' telling us that you can't visit an elderly parent. That feeling is unspeakable.
Anyway, I digressed. Great editorial.. Keep up your great analysis of cuba.
Of course, as you probably have picked up in your own travels, in Cuba, what unites almost all citizens on the ground, whatever their views, is disagreement of us current approach, particularly our silly bans on us tourists and, of course, any restriction on families one to one contact.
For example, Yoani, who is often promoted even on Babablu, has often expressed in public interviews disaggrement with usa restrictions on travel. why can't miami listen to their 'own people' as they call them, but never listen.
