This should work out well

Tracey Eaton posted two items (here and here) from the website of World Learning, a Vermont organization that promotes international study and exchange and has done, according to Tracey’s figures, more than $600 million in federal government business in the past 13 years.

The organization is expecting to get a USAID grant to work with Cuban youth as young as age 12 so they can “experience freedom of association and freedom of expression in social spaces organized outside state authority.”

In anticipation of the grant, World Learning is looking to hire staff to run the program, including an “In-country coordinator,” a position that “will require residence in Cuba.”

Meanwhile, Cuba’s top appeals court will hear arguments July 22 in the case of USAID contractor Alan Gross, who was arrested in 2009 and later sentenced to 15 years of “residence in Cuba” for his activities carrying out the USAID program. (Reuters)
