Oil news

As previewed in Interior Department testimony to Congress last October, regional talks were convened to discuss oil exploration and environmental issues, with the United States, Cuba, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Jamaica represented.

The talks took place last week in the Bahamas, specifically at Police Headquarters according to this local report. The State Department is hush-hush.

Trinidad’s Newsday reports that U.S. officials will soon travel to Port of Spain to inspect the rig that will soon drill in Cuban waters.

And a conference between U.S. and Cuban scientists is under way this week, presumably in Havana; the “where” was left out of these stories from AFP and Prensa Latina.
