Havana-Miami-Washington events and arguments and their impact on Cuba
Phil, I'm assuming this picture was taken by you during your latest Cuban visit. If it is, bravo! Well done and please share more.
I believe that this town was the terminal of the first Cuban railroad built in 1837.I wonder if this was the site of the original train station? Can you, Mr. Peters or any of your readers have anything to say about this?Maybe you or any of the readers in the island could contact historian Oscar Zanetti in Cuba who wrote the history of the Cuban railroads and ask him about it? Cantaclaro
Cantaclaro,I beleive you are correct. My family has long told me of this milestone in thier hometown of Bejucal. Our great grandfather, an avocado exporter, was once mayor of this town. I wish I knew more as well. Best of luck to you.
Maybe the answer is in Zanetti's book...http://www.amazon.com/Sugar-Railroads-History-1837-1959-ebook/dp/B003VYBQCI
