Tourism and the private sector

In an article on tourism in Cuba (2.7 million visitors last year, and this year’s figures are up 5.2 percent through March), Juventud Rebelde notes the contribution of the entrepreneurial sector: there are 1,618 private restaurants and 5,207 homes in which Cubans rent rooms to foreign visitors.
