Today’s Granma takes brief note on page one of the talks between Raul Castro, Spanish foreign minister Moratinos, and Cardinal Ortega, and runs the text of yesterday’s press statement from the Archdiocese of Havana on page two. To see how they appear on the printed page, here is a pdf of page one and page two. Here is the Miami Herald’s translation of the Church statement.

Hi Phil,
In your opinion is the Administration obliged (or should they) make some sort of gesture towards Cuba as their stated position has been that they are waiting to see some movement on the human rights front?
If they don't do anything aren't they running the risk of making Cuba believe they have no intention of changing the current policy even if additional improvements are made?
Of course the all or nothing position of the Miami’s three Cuban American members of the House of Representatives is ridiculous and is more of an instinctive knee jerk reaction to please the hard line vote - which annoys me to no end.
