Odds and ends

  • “Siempre en combate,” a photo feature in Granma recalling a yanqui invasion alarm of 50 years ago. And on the 50th anniversary of the break in diplomatic relations, Granma runs a Jose Marti essay on the need for “our America” to understand “the truth about the United States.”

  • Havana’s Hotel Nacional marks its 80th anniversary and AP runs a nice sketch of its history and “slightly shabby elegance.”

  • In Le Temps (Geneva), former U.S. Interests Section chief Michael Parmly comments on the Wikileaks cables and their potential harm to the work of U.S. diplomats. (H/t Penultimos Dias)
