Odds and ends

  • Rumors that the Obama Administration is preparing a very mild opening in travel policy are reported at the Herald’s politics blog.

  • Cuban Colada has the U.S. diplomatic note that broke relations 50 years ago. I say we give the policy a little more time to work.

  • Reedman Ted Nash of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra blogs about his experiences in Cuba here, here, and here, and this CBS News footage shows him giving an impromptu lesson. A clip from a 60 Minutes piece with Wynton Marsalis explaining rhythyms during a stroll through the Plaza de Armas is here.

Wynton Marsalis knowledge of Cuban music and rhythms is pathetic. He should stick to what he knows best: American Jazz.
