• The vice president of the Sancti Spiritus provincial Poder Popular assembly was removed from his post last week, as were officials in other provincial offices, for abusing their offices and misappropriating state resources for personal profit, Granma reports. The assembly’s president also resigned even though she was not implicated. Those who are implicated will face criminal charges.
