A Florida foreign policy update, a little late:
The state law that bars companies that do business in Cuba from bidding on
state and local government contracts was blocked
by a federal court, and the state law that bars the use of state university
funds for academic travel to Cuba was allowed
to stand by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Peter, John Paul Rathbone's book The Sugar King of Havana: The Rise and Fall of Julio Lobo, Cuba’s Last Tycoon about more than just Julio Lobo. It is the best chronicle of the sugar industry in the years 1920-59 I have read, with a few humorous tales that Cubans are not aware of but absolutely love.
Rathbone's mother is also Cuban.
