The embargo, alive and well

On September 11, President Obama acted to continue “the exercise of certain authorities” under the Trading with the Enemy Act.

anyone who has ever said american policies don't have an affect on cuba economics or society, or have had no affect for the past 50 years, please go read the Trading with the Enemy Act and understand what the implications are -- historical and present day. The United States still considers itself to be at war with Cuba; and how is Cuba suppose to react?

change we can be disappointed in. too bad obama, you missed a chance.

Hey anon, wake up and smell the coffee. No U.S. President with an ounce of self-respect is going to unilaterally lift the embargo on this decrepit regime -- no matter how much appeasers and bootlickers like yourself piss and moan. You want a change in US policy? Start lobbying the Castro regime to change its policies and you'll be surprised how fast things will change here. Even Bush said US policy would change if the regime did. When has the regime ever said it would change its policies if the US lifted the embargo? There's the essence of the problem right there. Try to get that through your tin foil hat.

I could not have stated it any better, Chingon.
It is in their eyes that Fidel can never do wrong. I cannot, for the life of me, grasp such perceptions. Perhaps it is that they are simply unfamiliar with freedom and too familiar with being subservient to Fidel, their almighty comandante and disciplinarian; and with his rhetoric he has established the U.S. as being the imperialist nation that has induced such melancholy and oppressiveness upon the island for decades. And the people eat this ideology up. They are infatuated by him. Such a charismatic man, don't you think? Oh, the war is still very very much alive. That is the only perception I have grasped in many decades.

It is not that we think Fidel is "almighty" and does not make mistakes. He has made plenty. It is that we admire his goals. His insistence that we not forget ethics and ideals. We (outside sympathizers) only want Cuban socialism to be able to have a fair shake - free from lies and embargoes. Someone like Obama can never engender this dedication because he believes in nothing but incrementalism. He knows the root of the problems (environmental damage, poverty, war, exploitation) but is too scared to say so.

Yes, Fidel is a very ethically-driven man with very many promising and constructive ideals that have stimulated wondrous results for the economic market and the rights of the people. He is a magnanimous man beholding a Divine manifestation, well-knowing that it is not any easy task to control the masses, that a King's judgement and faculties will be subject to error if he fails to subdue the masses; he must enculturate them and not hold any reservations in doing so; Fidel has never told a lie, or composed himself in any fashion that would question his morality--for it is the yankees that harbor such inhumanity from within.

Enough of this. It hurts me deeply. Fidel has practiced the ethics and ideals of socialism to perfection, thus becoming the longest reigning dictator of the modern world. But you know nothing of this. Or you do, and only choose to stand in admiration at such veritably failed idealism. Then again, you are of the masses, and it is Fidel who is your keeper. Why not move there? Come on, you won't even have to pack any possessions.

Your truly,

ahh hello chingon and hermano odio -- if obama didn't sign TWTA it wouldn't have lifted the embargo, it was more of a symbolic move.
the president CANT unilaterally lift the embargo, morons. it's in the hands of congress, or don't you know even the basic facts? of course not, facts have never interfered with your realities. but then cashing in those CANF checks never was about facts and realities, just more and more lies.

Ok, stupid, have it your way. No U.S. President with an ounce of self-respect is going to engage in symbolic gestures to lift the embargo on this decrepit regime -- no matter how much appeasers and bootlickers like yourself piss and moan. Feel better now?

One additional point, stupid, the President can basically gut the embargo through his licensing authority. He doesn't need Congress to do anything.

Read up on the subject a little more before you take me on. It's a little embarrassing picking on someone so ill-informed.

chingon, are you a complete moron or are you losing all sense of reality? the embargo is under Congressional control, ever heard of the fallout from the illegal Helms Burton act. please, keep your blogs shut because you really just show your complete ignorance of something this basic. your CANF handlers really need to re-train you a little better if you think Obama could end the embargo. He does not have the ability to gut the embargo through licensing authority. It was in the president's hands before, now it's in congress. what a maroon.

"The embargo is the perfect example used by anti-Americans everywhere to expose the hypocrisy of a superpower that punishes a small island while cozying to dictators elsewhere."
— Moisés Naím, Newsweek

and how do the gusanos explain that

Anonymous said...

Stupid, it's impossible to make it any clearer. When Congress codified the embargo, it also codified the President's licensing authority to do basically anything he wants. Do a little research stupid and then come back and try to debate me.

chingon, my poor little gusanito; the embargo is a two way street, i know that's a hard concept to grasp. the embargo will not be ended by presidential authority. congress has the control. quit making yourself look stoopider and stoopider (hard to imagine)
assume you think the gusanos won the bay of pigs as well?

If I write in Spanish will that help you understand?

BBC News, Havana

US President Barack Obama has extended the 47-year-old trade embargo against Cuba for another year.

In a statement, Mr Obama said that it was in the US national interest to extend the Trading With The Enemy Act which covers the trade embargo.

It is largely a symbolic step because the final decision rests with Congress.

chingon, write in chinese because whatever language you write in you just don't have a fricking clue do you. lies in any language are still lies, ignorance still ignorance.

Anonymous said...

that only proves the BBC is as ignorant as you are, which is hardly surprising...

Stupid, go to the following:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Fact-Sheet-Reaching-out-to-the-Cuban-people/. None of these changes to policy required any Congressional act; they were all done through the President's licensing authority.

yes idiot but it doesn't end the embargo, which is two ways, what obama can do is limited but he can't end the embargo. god it's tiring trying to explain concepts to someone who is still figuring out the intricacies of a fork.

Anonymous said...

chingon, you're just making yourself look ridiculous. admit your loss and move on.

stupid, I said he can basically gut the embargo, not officially end it. I know its easier to win arguments when you misrepresent the other side's points, but my argument is in black and white above. I know you write in pidgeon English, do you also read it that way?

chingon

Anonymous said...

well moron that was the point wasn't it, ending the embargo, not gutting it which is a meaningless description. so was that your best apology?

And braniac, it's pidgin English as reference to fracturing the language either written or oral, not pidgeon, which i assume you were referring to pigeon, which is a type of bird, which is the brain of which you possess. and if that was too complicated i'll type slower next time.
sorry you missed your ESL class this week, CANF will be deducting the appropriate percentage from your pay.

the point, other than the one on your head, is that the embargo hurts the cuban people, and you types who still support it are the worst type of losers imaginable. now go give the hate a nice big smooch, he's waiting for you.

the point was about lifting the embargo, not 'gutting' it, whatever that means. you were wrong chingon and you should admit it. let's see what type of person you really are

does anyone really believe these two previous posts were by different people? Same bootlicker, same pathetic defense of the indefensible.

Btw, stupid, I hate to ruin your woody but pidgeon is a variation of pidgen. In fact, it existed before it was shortened to pidgen. Please don't pretend to give anyone lessons in the English language since you it is obviously not your first language.

chingon

Anonymous said...

so how is that embargo working anyway? wait, wait another 50 years and you'll all see! keep punishing the cuban people and finally they'll do what we want them to.

and chingon, how does pidgin fit into your english lesson? what the hell does pidgen mean? what dictionary are you using -- engrish makey easee??

are you saying pidgen is a variation of the bird? or of bad english?, man the more you blog the more you dig yourself deeper. really, are you a masochist or what?

and chingon folds his tent, answering to other posts but not to this one, as his pidgen english settles quietly into the west. fantasy prevails, knowledge dies, and ignorance and lies triumph. well done chingon, you've earned you CANF pay this week, now please go spend it on some more english lessons. or a dictionary that has the word pidgen in it.
but just stop the lies or at least be man enough to admit when you were wrong. because without it then everything you and the other gusanos say is just easier to expose.

Anonymous said...

Actually, stupid, you bore me already and it's really not a fair fight picking on the infirm.

chingon

Anonymous said...

ahh come on chingon pidgen, you can do better than that. how lame, how weak, it is the worst example of cowardice ever seen. but at least you admit you have an infirmity, pidgen, which is a good first step. so you're bored, at least you spelled it right, so i guess you can cash your CANF check this week.
but really, next week come up with something better than that excuse, lameoid.
or maybe you've decided, pig-eons are are flying pigs, like Manuel did

so i guess to you boredom means an ass whipping.

Stupid, stop leading with your chin. The point still stands. The President has the authority to license basically any economic activity between the US and Cuba that he wants. Congress has nothing to do with it. Maybe Peters can explain it better to you, apologist to apologist. I'm done with this sterile exchange.

chingon

Anonymous said...

hey pidgen, the point is the president(who has certain influence) cant end the embargo. its not a complicated concept but apparently it is for you. the president can not license the end of all aspects of the embargo, it will take an act of congress to END the embargo. really, are you familiar with anything about Cuba? (not sure why you took a shot at Peters, any first year student of cuban studies would be able to tell you the same thing, but then facts never got in the way of a good tirade from you)

and that's not really the fun part,
you just aren't man enough to admit a mistake, are you pidgen. the galling part of it (this gets a little complicated so it's 50-50 you'll understand) is that you insulted someone over their bad English and you didn't have a fricking clue the comment you made to prove your point was worse english! so then when it's pointed out you don't admit a mistake like any man would, you just dig yourself deeper with a half-assed explanation only a gusano could come up with, and it just made you look even stoopider.

actually galling isn't the right word, funny is. so now take this to your CANF handlers and I'm sure then can explain it in gusanito to you.

so from now on you are a piden
