A “reflection” by Fidel Castro, titled “What is immediately needed is an energy revolution” was released last night and posted on Cuban websites. In his essay, Castro reiterates his views on biofuel production and global energy policy generally.
Regardless of whether he appears at Havana’s May 1 events, he says these topics and the “incredible” release from jail of Luis Posada Carriles would be good topics for reflection today by the “workers and all the poor people of the world.”

Fidel seems to have made a brilliant move into being the world's elder environmentalist. Highlighting the dangers of the Bush biofuel plan was vintage Fidel - visionary, brave and incredibly strategic.
