Mario's Christmas amendment: Not yet a done deal
- National Journal: The House Appropriations Committee chair will re-open discussions about the spending bill with an eye to dropping the Diaz-Balart amendment to restore the Bush regulations on Cuban-American travel and remittances.

I bet its hard to find more than 2% of Cubans living in Cuba who would support the travel restrictions (family or general).
Doesn't matter their view of the cuban govenrment, almost nobody in cuba agrees with US' hardline approach, b/c they know how counterproductive it is.
why doesn't the miami folks in power listen to the Cuban people?
As most Cubans I am very glad that the travel restrictions were not adopted as a part of the spending package.
However, they remain a s a Damocles sword influencing ongoing spy swap negotiations.
Remember the chess principle that a threat is often just as effective as a direct attack.
